On August 19, 2026, on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, the Museum hosted a presentation of the album “Museum of the National Liberation Struggle of Ternopil Region”.
The publication presents the diverse activities of the Museum and its branches, the main areas of the institution’s work, museum collections, exhibition and publishing projects, cooperation with partners, friends and patrons, as well as prospects for further development.
The photo album pays special attention to the history of the national liberation struggle of the Ukrainian people and the events of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war. Its pages present materials about Stepan Bandera, Ukrainian military formations of the 20th-21st centuries, the armed underground of the OUN and UPA, the Revolution of Dignity and the Volunteer Movement, art in war, the Russian-Ukrainian war, a collection of diaspora publications and the publishing activities of the Museum.
Separate sections are dedicated to the structural divisions of the Museum – the Historical and Memorial Museum of Political Prisoners, the Museum of the National Liberation Struggle of the OUN and UPA named after Ya. Busel, the People’s Historical and Memorial Museum of Yaroslav and Slava Stetski.
The event began with an introductory speech by the director of the Museum, Yevhen Fil. The blessing of the event was given by the chaplain of the military unit, Father Serhiy. Those present honored the memory of Ukrainian defenders and all those who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of Ukraine with a minute of silence.
During the presentation, Yevhen Fil presented the main sections and concept of the photo album, spoke about the activities of the Museum, implemented projects, the development of the institution and the importance of the new publication for the popularization of museum work.
The participants of the event were addressed by:
\u25aa\ufe0fHead of the Ternopil Regional Council Bohdan Butkovsky, who wished the museum team success in their future work and assured that the deputy corps will continue to
support all important initiatives of the institution;
\u25aa\ufe0fDeputy Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Ternopil Regional Council Ihor Kulchytsky;
\u25aa\ufe0fDoctor of Theology, member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine Fr. Ivan Andriy Govera.
Representatives of the scientific, cultural and public environment shared their thoughts. In particular, Mykhailo Andreychyn – professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, full member of the National Museum of History, spoke, who emphasized the importance of museum work in preserving and popularizing the historical memory of the Ukrainian people.
A special moment of the presentation was the final speech by Ihor Oleschuk – a former Soviet political prisoner. During the event, he performed a rebel song, which sounded like a reminder of the indomitability of Ukrainians and their struggle for freedom.
The presentation was attended by the Museum’s partners, government representatives – deputies of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Tymoshyk, Iryna Shumada and Yuriy Yurik, military personnel, scientists, employees of cultural institutions, the interested public and friends of the institution. Their presence testified to the importance of joining efforts to preserve Ukrainian historical memory, popularize the history of the national liberation struggle and comprehend the events of the modern Russian-Ukrainian war.
The photo album is designed to attract the attention of the general public, primarily young people, to the knowledge and comprehension of the complex but heroic history of Ukraine, to contribute to the formation of historical memory, national consciousness, a sense of dignity and respect for the struggle of the Ukrainian people.
