The national liberation struggle in the Ternopil Region is undoubtedly associated with the Stetsko family. Therefore, on 14 October 2002, on the initiative of the head of the local Prosvita branch, local historian Myron Sahaidak, and other concerned members of the community, a museum was established in their honor in the village of Velykyi Hlybochok, Ternopil district, in the parish house built in 1808.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, this historic house was visited by several prominent figures, including Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky and distinguished Ukrainians Ivan Franko, Volodymyr Hnatiuk, and Ivanna Blazhkevych.
The museum’s exhibition halls tell the story of the family of Yaroslav Stetsko and preserve his personal belongings, photographs, and documents.
The museum also features exhibitions dedicated to other notable natives of Velykyi Hlybochok – Ukrainian ethnographer, folklorist, and local historian Petro Medvedyk, as well as Azov fighter, grenade launcher operator, and UNA-UNSO member Andrii Dromin, who fell fighting for Ukraine near Ilovaisk in the Donetsk region in 2014.
In 2019, the Yaroslav and Slava Stetsko Historical Memorial Museum became a branch of the Museum of the National Liberation Struggle of the Ternopil Region.
Today, the museum is an important center for preserving historical memory and promoting the history of the Ukrainian people’s national liberation struggle.
