International Embroidered Unity Rushnyk “Tsvit Vyshyvanky”
In 2013, as part of the National Embroidery and Costume Festival of Ukraine “Tsvit Vyshyvanky”, the International Embroidered Unity Rushnyk project was launched.
In 2020, the Museum took on the role of providing information about and promoting this initiative. To support the project, a dedicated social media page was created for everyone interested in Ukrainian embroidery and traditional culture.
The internationally created rushnyk (ceremonial embroidered cloth) measures 24.55 metres in length. At its centre is the festival emblem, measuring 55 cm in diameter. Each regional or national embroidery fragment is 65 cm high and 35 cm wide, with a distance of 10 cm between the patterns.
The rushnyk will feature traditional ornaments representing the 24 regions of Ukraine and the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as 26 additional patterns commonly found in countries and communities where Ukrainians live abroad. In total, the rushnyk will unite 52 Ukrainian ornaments.
The aim of the project is to showcase the beauty of patterns, techniques, and embroidery traditions found throughout Ukraine and, thanks to the Ukrainian diaspora, across the world. These ornaments preserve cultural memory, identity, and a unique code of the Ukrainian nation.

The patterns were embroidered by craftswomen from Ukrainian regions and countries with compact Ukrainian diaspora communities.
The EMBLEM of the International Embroidered Towel of Unity “The Bloom of Embroidery” was embroidered by folk arts and crafts and artistic embroidery master Svitlana Lazoryk.
