On August 16, a farewell ceremony was held at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC in Kyiv for Colonel of the UNR Army Yevhen Konovalets, the founder of the Ukrainian Military Organization (UVO) and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), commander of the Sich Rifle Corps, and one of the leaders of the Ukrainian liberation movement.
The ceremony was attended by: the head of the Ternopil OVA Taras Pastukh, deputy director of the culture and tourism department of the Ternopil OVA Ihor Kulchytsky, director of the Museum of the National Liberation Struggle of the Ternopil Region Yevhen Fil, scouts from the Ternopil region, and the public, who paid tribute to the figure who played a prominent role in the struggle of Ukrainians for state independence.
On August 13, the ashes of Yevhen Konovalets were transported to Ukraine and met with state and military honors. The return of the ashes of Colonel Yevhen Konovalets to Ukrainian soil is a landmark event for our state and an important step in restoring historical memory.
